For my husband’s birthday the Quarie sent him a birthday voucher for a free main meal. This was to good to miss out on so we booked for the night of his birthday. They usually have a special menu as well as the regular, so from the specials we picked the Oyster Kilpatrick only to be told they didn’t have any left, which was disappointing. We decided to skip the entree and just have a main so we’d have room for dessert. Claude chose a 300g ‘pitch black’ angus scotch fillet with grilled prawns, spicy chorizo, potato wedges, fried egg & pepper sauce ($39.50)
He ordered the steak medium rare and it was cooked perfectly. The meat was tender and tasty. We thought it was strange having the fried egg on top but all the elements worked perfectly together however as the steak was on top of the wedges they ended up soft. Claude particularly liked the combination of prawn and chorizo.
My selection was from the special menu, I love good pizza, I ate Margherita Pizza for lunch 4 days in a row in Rome, so it was an easy choice for me. The topping was feta cheese, red onion, capsicum and chorizo ($22). The base was crispy and there wasn’t too much topping to make it soggy, really delicious.
We’ve been to the Quarie on quite a few occasions and always finished with the Churros ($9), however they have been taken off the regular menu so Claude was very happy to see they were on the special menu that night, a birthday surprise. These were probably the best we have had here. They were crispy and not overcooked on the outside with a fluffy interior. Dipped in the luscious chocolate sauce, divine.
The service is always fantastic here, the staff happy and friendly and look like they actually enjoy their job. We really enjoyed our meal, it was a great place to celebrate Claude’s birthday.
