Friday night we decided to check out the Twilight Hawkers Market held in Forrest Place, Perth. We haven’t been before but had been wanting to go as we’d heard great things about it from others. The markets operate from 4.30pm to 9pm every Friday night through the warmer months, this year from 17th October 2014 through until 24th April 2015. Although I believe they are not held on the 14th November and the 19th December due to Christmas festivities. We caught the train getting off at the underground station so it was a quick walk around the corner to get there.
It looked so festive with the lights and Banda Fuego supplying wonderful Latin music. We decided to wander around first and check out what was on offer but it wasn’t long before we were lured by great puffs of smoke to where satay sticks were being cooked. The smell was divine so we bought 5 beef satays for $10 and had to try one of their curry puffs $2.50.
Later, Claude tried a Po Boy $10, pulled pork in a roll, and I had Gozleme $12, filled with feta, spinach and beef. All the food was so fresh and tasty. It was great to be able to try different things at a reasonable cost. We finished off the night with a slice of Baklava $3.50 and then beautiful Churros $5 filled with your choice of chocolate or caramel sauce. These were amazing. The markets offered a large variety of food, had a great family atmosphere and we really enjoyed our night.
